China’s own passenger airplane, the C919, flew its first commercial flight on Sunday, carrying over 130 passengers from Shanghai to Beijing. The plane is made by a Chinese company called Comac and is part of China’s plan to make important things on their own and compete with companies in other countries.
The C919 will fly between Shanghai and Chengdu starting from Monday. Comac has plans to make 150 planes every year in the next five years and has already received over 1,200 orders.
